Underwriters join Inside Science for annual meeting at ACP

On September 12, representatives of the scientific societies that support Inside Science as program underwriters joined AIP staff for their annual meeting. The underwriters received the latest news and information on the program, provided ideas and feedback, and explored ways to use Inside Science to advance their missions and outreach efforts.

Ben Stein, director of Inside Science, led off the program by talking about the future of science news in a joint presentation with Brandon Mercer, a veteran news director who has used Inside Science TV during his time at FOX40 Sacramento. Rachel Connolly, the director of STEM education for WGBH (the Boston-based PBS member station that produces NOVA and PBS LearningMedia), and Katie Gould, teacher resource producer at the PBS NewsHour, spoke about the educational resources offered through PBS LearningMedia, which now includes videos from Inside Science.

Other topics included new ideas for the video program; creative initiatives undertaken by Inside Science in the past year, including infographics and slide shows; and new directions for Inside Science in 2015, including an expanded package of underwriter benefits.

Inside Science thanks ASA, APS, the Biophysical Society, AMS, the MRS Foundation, AVS, and ACS for all of their support and their participation.
