High school physics teachers’ most useful resources

SRC Survey data

The textbooks and other resources US high school physics teachers use have evolved along with the changing demands of physics classes and the variety of instructional strategies available. In a recent report, the Statistical Research Center (SRC) identifies the most widely used textbooks in a number of high school physics classes, from Physics First through AP Physics C. We share teachers’ ratings of the usefulness of the textbooks they use. We also take a closer look at a number of online resources high school physics teachers report using in their classes. These data come from the 2012–13 Nationwide Survey of High School Physics Teachers, a quadrennial survey conducted by the SRC. The 2012–13 iteration was its eighth.
