AIP Industrial Outreach

Serving the industrial physics community through events, forums, and online resources that forge new and stronger relationships between physicists from corporations and academe.

Core activities

IPF logoIndustrial Physics Forums

Industrial Physics Forums, organized in conjunction with AIP Member Society meetings, explore new applications of physics, product developments, and other opportunities for science in today's economic environment.

This year's Forum, "Frontiers in Quantitative Imaging for Cancer Detection and Treatment", held July 26-29, 2009 in Anaheim CA, will explore the connections being made right now between physicists and industry in developing the next generations of crucial medical technology for diagnosis, treatments, and prevention of commonplace diseases.

Corporate Associates Membership

Forge stronger connections with technology and research leaders; exchange ideas and advice with colleagues facing similar R &D challenges.

Summits and Regional events

Summits bring greater attention to mutual concerns of industrial and academic physicists. Regional forums attract scientists with diverse interests from multiple AIP Member Societies.

Prize for the Industrial Applications of Physics

Outstanding contributions to the industrial applications of physics are recognized every two years with this $10,000 award. The contributions may be a product, a process, or a tool that results in a significant industrial development.
