Serge Haroche, born 11 September 1944 in Casablanca, is a French theoretical physicist. Since 2001 he has been a Professor at the Collège de France and holds the Chair of Quantum Physics. He is a member of the French Physical Society, the European Physical Society and a fellow and member of the American Physical Society. He is principally known for proving by experimental observation, Quantum decoherence while working with colleagues at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris in 1996.
