Sarah Cochrane, Assistant Archivist

For this final month of summer, we’re heading back into the archives…

Into the Stacks: Venture in the Niels Bohr Library & Archives with Sarah

I’m Sarah Cochrane, Assistant Archivist at the Niels Bohr Library & Archives. I started working here in November 2015 as the part-time Archives Assistant during my final year of graduate school. In December 2016 I completed my Masters in Library and Information Science at the University of Maryland, and in January I started working full time in my current position. In this position, I am in charge of accessions, meaning that when we get new items or collections, I catalog them and make them findable online. I am also working with our audiovisual collections, including preservation work on our film reels and cataloging items that are not currently in the catalog. Another project involves encoding paper finding aids and putting them online to make the collections they describe more accessible for researchers. When I’m not at work, I love cooking new things and collecting new recipes to try.

Keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter (@AIPhistory) this month as I give you a look at the various projects and tasks that make up my days.
