New ESVA home page

The Niels Bohr Library and Archives is pleased to announce the launch of its new website for the Emilio Segrè Visual Archives, https://photos.aip.org/

The new site features extensive content, including over 25,000 images from the Emilio Segrè Visual Archives. The website is designed to assist the physics community and interested public in browsing images for presentations, exhibitions, and publication, while purchasing with ease.

ESVA search results

The website focuses on formal and candid images, offering a glimpse into the professional and private lives of some of the world’s most famous scientists.

With new search features that include keywords, locations, categories, and collection highlights, the Emilio Segrè Visual Archives website offers the finite results you’re looking for. Using the available filters located on the right side bar tailors your results.

Once you’ve chosen your images, our new E-commerce checkout system makes purchasing simple. Once, purchased, all images bought are stored for later use within your online account.

ESVA shopping cart

Effective December 15, 2013 our fee for 300 dpi scans changed from $10 to $20, and we eliminated use fees for all photos for which we did not hold copyright. This change provides a significant cost reduction for many patrons while continuing to help defray our costs.

Please visit our new website and discover the Emilio Segrè Visual Archives. In the coming months we’ll be adding featured photo galleries, social media links and blog posts. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for future updates.
