From October 16 to 18th, the Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives Conference (MARAC) held their fall meeting in Baltimore, Maryland. The conference focused on new projects in the archival community and where the profession is going. It also highlighted some of the unique collections you can find at archival repositories in and around Baltimore, including the Johns Hopkins University’s beautiful George Peabody Library, which was the venue for the Friday reception. A number of our staff attended the conference and found some new ideas we hope to implement.

Our associate archivist, Amanda Nelson, served for the past year on the program committee for the conference helping to plan the educational sessions and speakers with a group of 11 other archivists from around the area.

Photo Librarian, Savannah Gignac, was a featured speaker on the panel session, “Jump Past the Job Posting: How to Turn the Job You’ve Got into the Job You Love.” The session focused on making the most of your first job after receiving a Masters in Information Studies and how to advance from a temporary contractor or grant funded position.
