On October 31st, we opened the doors to our archives and processing area to show off the new shelving and thank our co-workers for their patience during our renovations this summer. We pulled items from a few noteworthy collections showcasing the history of AIP and the member societies as well as some signatures of famous physicists, rare books from our collection, and photographs of AIP and APS from the 1930s to 1950s.
We had a wonderful turnout of around 40-50 people from the building who asked interesting questions about our work and who enjoyed seeing how the new shelving works. Most of them had never seen the archives, so it was a fun way to let people in the building know what we have been working on. We’d like to thank all those who attended and we hope to make this an annual event.
