Intern — Web Design — NY

DUTIES:
Work under the direction of the online development manager and a team of project coordinators to provide web design support for the Scitation service and other online projects. In addition to designing sites and site components, the Web Design Intern will assist in ongoing web-site administration and work with in-house staff on developing and integrating new site features and functions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented, Internet-savvy self-starter with strong skills in database-driven (JSP, ASP, PHP) web site design and construction using industry-standard PC-based software (Dreamweaver, Photoshop). Ability to create and manipulate CSS and JavaScripts required. Must code cleanly to HTML/CSS authoring standards, and ensure cross-browser compatibility and accessibility of all designs. Strong written and verbal communication skills required, with the ability to interface with customers, in-house technologists, and marketing staff. Macintosh experience helpful. Knowledge of XML, XHTML, and XSLT a plus.
